There is a continued hunger across the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to reclaim and to reconnect with the denomination’s rich missional history. Here at Starmount, we are enthusiastically answering Christ’s call to live out his word through acts by getting out of the pews and into the world.
At Starmount we are continually empowered to serve.
We have numerous ways for our members to serve throughout our community, our country, and our world. Starmount, as part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), coordinates additional mission work through: Salem Presbytery, Synod of Mid-Atlantic and the General Assembly. Starmount Presbyterian Habitat for Humanity Houses
Starmount is actively involved with the Greensboro Habitat for Humanity chapter. Annually for the past 17 years, Starmount has partnered with Greensboro Habitat for Humanity and other Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregations to build a house or renovate a townhome.
Work teams from Starmount include both skilled and unskilled laborers and are called into service for approximately 3 months every year.
Congo Pig and Farm Project
For over a decade Starmount, with the support of Salem Presbytery’s International Hunger committee and Congolese Presbyterian Church, have developed chicken and crop farms in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The farm projects began with an idea from Congolese Presbyterian and Veterinarian, Dr. Jean Paul Beya. Dr. Methy N’day has also added her skills to help develop the chicken/egg farms. The farms are located in Kananga, Tubuluku and Tshikiji, where these sustainable ministries help to provide much needed high quality food as well as economic development within the local economy. They have helped to bring the justice of Jesus for the poor to the people of Congo.
